John Pay

Sales and Marketing Director

John is an experienced Sales and Marketing Director and Executive Board Director, with a career spanning more than 20 years across the aviation, automotive, manufacturing and construction sectors.

Originally born in Belgium and fluent in French, John brings an international perspective on his role, having developed client relationships and driven business growth across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Since 2018, John has specialised in the construction industry, with a particular focus on consultative, relationship based sales and strategic business development.

John also has extensive experience in framework and competitive tendering environments, having served as a Framework Director and led multiple successful framework bids and competitive tenders.

He brings a strong understanding of how to align bid strategy, commercial positioning and operational delivery to secure long-term, sustainable client partnerships.

At Volumec, John leads the company’s sales and marketing function, helping to shape and drive sustainable growth. He works closely with clients, colleagues and partners to ensure the business consistently delivers on its promise of quality, reliability and trusted delivery.

He places strong emphasis on building long term relationships both with clients and within the wider team, bringing the same values of trust, loyalty and consistency to Volumec’s culture as he does to client partnerships.

Away from work

John’s time is firmly focused on family life. As a father of four, weekends are typically spent supporting a packed schedule of children’s activities from football and rugby to dance and drama performances.

Originally from Oxford (still keeping the accent, much to the amusement of colleagues), John now happily calls the North of England home.
